Murrell inquiry by MPs would be ‘party political stunt’, SNP’s Dave Doogan says

SNP Westminster leader Dave Doogan (left) has dismissed calls for MPs to hold an investigation into how former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell was able to embezzle over £400,000 from the party (Jane Barlow/PA) -

A probe by MPs into Peter Murrell’s embezzlement of £400,000 from the SNP would be a “party political stunt” and an “unprecedented abuse” of the committee system at the House of Commons, SNP Westminster leader Dave Doogan has insisted.

While calls continue for a further probe to be held into how the former SNP chief executive was able to embezzle the cash, Mr Doogan claimed an investigation by the Scottish Affairs Committee would be “blatantly partisan”.
