Mum's heartbreak after waking up to find 'one of a kind' husband dead in bed

A mum has told of the heartbreaking moment she woke up to find her husband of 14 years dead in bed. Ali Panagi described chip shop owner and dad-of-three George as 'one of a kind' following his sudden death.

The couple had gone to bed at their home in Staffordshire as normal but when George, 53, failed to turn off his alarm, Ali, 41, quickly realised something was seriously wrong.

"The alarm was going off so I reached over George to turn it off, he felt a bit cold so I pulled the duvet over him. It felt different so I jumped out of bed and went around to his side. He was lying on his side and his lips were blue," she told StokeonTrentLive.
