Mum filled with 'overwhelming pride' after seeing son's generous Halloween gesture replacing sweets

A mum has spoken of her "overwhelming pride" after finding out about a sweet gesture that her son made on Halloween.

Nathan Hornby, 13, was out trick-or-treating with his friend Daniel when they came across a house with an empty bowl outside. Sweet footage captured on the house's Ring doorbell camera showed the boys selflessly giving up some of their own Halloween treats.

Nathan could be seen picking up the bowl and saying to his friend, "somebody has taken them [the sweets]", before the pair quickly opened their plastic bags full of sweets to fill up the bowl. The boys then turned to the doorbell camera and waved, wishing the occupants a "happy Halloween".

The heartwarming incident took place in Liverpool, but the youngsters' kind gesture has since been shared far and wide after Jodie Laithy, who lives at the home, discovered the footage and shared it on Facebook in a bid to track the boys' parents down. Describing it as the "cutest thing ever", Jodie told the Liverpool Echo : "I hope their parents see it and are proud of them."

She added: "I didn't expect that from two young lads, amazing they are." And Nathan's mum Natasha Holloway has since come forward to praise her son's actions after dozens of friends on Facebook tagged her in the video.

"I cried," she admitted. "The overwhelming pride that I've got that I've raised a son that would do that off his own back.

"There's a lot of bad press so when a nice story comes out it makes a massive difference - and to know it's my son that did that makes me feel good," she added. Natasha said that she is planning to take Nathan out for tea as a treat for his generous gesture.
