Japanese cinema enthusiasts can now enjoy a fresh selection of acclaimed films on JFF Theater, The Japan Foundation's free global streaming platform, with a new lineup of titles available for a limited time.
Regularly refreshed with a diverse catalogue of films, television series, documentaries and cultural programmes, the platform continues to bring the richness of Japanese storytelling to audiences around the world while promoting cultural exchange through the power of cinema.
Operating under the theme "Moved, Touched & Inspired", JFF Theater aims to connect international audiences with Japanese culture through high-quality films that entertain, inspire and foster a deeper appreciation of the creative landscape.
Designed for international audiences, the platform offers an easy and accessible viewing experience, with its website interface and subtitles available in 19 languages including Thai and English.
Building on the success of The Japan Foundation's ongoing online film initiatives, JFF Theater has attracted more than 650,000 views from audiences across over 130 countries, reflecting the growing global interest in Japanese cinema and culture.
Among the highlights available until Oct 7 is The Blue Skies At Your Feet (2022), directed by Saito Yuki, a touching romantic fantasy that follows two teenagers trapped in a mysterious time loop as they desperately attempt to change their future.
Also streaming is Tora-san, Our Lovable Tramp (1969) directed by Yoji Yamada, the first instalment of Japan's beloved long-running film series introducing the kind-hearted and humorous travelling salesman Tora-san, one of the country's most enduring cinematic icons.
The current programme also features an impressive selection of popular films including The 100th Love With You; Erased; The Miracles Of The Namiya General Store; Shodo Girls!!; Sumo Do, Sumo Don't; YUDO; Bonsai Warrior and both chapters of the science-fiction mystery Sagrada Reset.
