Morrisons shoppers are being urged to check if they have a popular milk product that is being recalled due to health and safety concerns.
The UK supermarket chain has issued a warning on a batch of Alpro Rice Milk following a recent recall as it may contain an undeclared presence of oats. This makes the product potentially unsafe to drink for anyone with a gluten intolerance or allergy, as the products are labelled as being "gluten free."
Anyone with an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten have been advised not to drink the product and to return it to any store that sells the rice drink for a full refund.
Hull Live reports that Alpro UK Limited has issued the recall on their own product and have said that it has only affected an "isolated batch."
The initial food recall from the manufacturer has stated that the Alpro Rice IL UHT milk was most likely sold in around May-June 2022 and they have a batch code of L 090 2.
The Food Standards Agency and Morrisons have both published the warning from Alpro on their websites. It says: "We are recalling one batch of Alpro Rice drink product (1L) due to an isolated issue affecting some products in the batch (only products manufactured at the end of the batch 15.07 and 18.24 can contain gluten).
Some products in the one batch labelled 'gluten free' have unfortunately been found to contain gluten.
"No other batches or other Alpro products are affected by this notice. Any customers with this Alpro Rice drink with a best before date of 31/12/2022 may return it to the shop where they bought it from for a refund with or without a receipt."
Shoppers who have a product from the affected batch have been urged to return it to any store that sells Alpro Rice Drink where they will be given a full refund.
