Swansea City misfit Morgan Whittaker is looking for his next move according to a report - but his chances of joining Rangers could be dwindling.
The Ibrox side failed with several bids for the winger in the January window despite the 22-year-old telling the Swans he wanted to make the move at the turn of the year. The Welsh club were adamant he wasn’t for sale with boss Russell Martin insisting he would be granted a second chance at the first-team following his return from Plymouth Argyle and the KO of a £1.8million offer from the Light Blues, but he found chances hard to come by in the English Championship.
Most of his action has come off the bench and it has left the player a frustrated figure again, and reports in Wales suggest he is unlikely to get a chance under new boss Michael Duff next season following Martin's exit for Southampton. Wales Online report Whittaker is "open to moving on this summer" but his options may be limited.
Michael Beale has reportedly "cooled" his interest in Whittaker with a host of new faces already coming through the door in Govan - despite the attacker being on his long-list of targets once again this summer. Plymouth are also reportedly interested after Whittaker's successful loan at the club last term but will struggle to afford the transfer fee.
Elsewhere, Arsenal's pursuit of Jurrien Timber could kickstart a domino effect leading all the way to Rangers from north London. The Ajax defender has reportedly agreed a £38.5million move to the Premier League giants.
And reports suggest that could see Auston Trusty lead a host of exits from the club to fund the deal. Arsenal defender Trusty was Birmingham City's Player of the Year last season and he's been linked with a move to Ibrox after being deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta.
The Telegraph have named the US international, Runar Alex Runarsson and Nuno Tavares as a trio who could be moved on to boost the spending power of the Gunners this summer. That could pave the way for a move to the Scottish Premiership for Trusty.
