Morgan Gibbs-White has revealed he stunned his teammates into silence with one of his early performances for Nottingham Forest.
In a traditional initiation for players who join new clubs, Gibbs-White had to sing a song in front of his teammates following his big-money arrival from Wolves. Given the Reds made more than 20 signings last summer alone, there were a lot of renditions to get through.
Gibbs-White thought he was onto a winner with his selection. However, there was a humorous, if rather uncomfortable, silence while the attacking midfielder was on the mic.

“I sung Mario, Let Me Love You. It didn’t go down well,” he laughed in an interview with Sky Sports. “I was expecting everyone to start singing with me but everyone was silent. And when there’s silence, you know it’s bad!”
However, Gibbs-White revealed other performances went down better.
“Emmanuel Dennis was good. He sung Burna Boy, Last Last. He knew every single lyric. He sung it all the way through and got everyone going.
“Also, Cheik Kouyate, he was very good. He did Waka Waka [by Shakira]. I would say those two are the best ones.”
Following 22 summer signings, it was always going to take time for Steve Cooper’s new-look squad to settle in the Premier League, and so it proved as the Reds got off to a sticky start. However, time together on and off the training pitch proved invaluable as the team eventually knitted together and climbed the table.
“It wasn’t really where something changed,” said Gibbs-White. “We signed 22 players so it’s not going to happen overnight, it’s going to take time.
“It’s going to take a lot of work on the training ground and that’s where it happened. Also, off the pitch, socialising and stuff and we’ve become a really together team.”
