More than 80,700 sign petition calling for World Cup final replay

Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, played on Sunday 19 July at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, has sparked a wave of protests that continues several days after the final whistle.

Fan Gisela Sánchez launched a petition on Change.org calling on FIFA to replay the match, which was decided by a Ferran Torres goal in extra time. At the time of writing, the petition had gathered more than 80,739 signatures.
