More than 17,000 people turn up to enjoy Paisley's Food and Drink Festival

Organisers of last weekend’s Paisley Food and Drink Festival said 17,000 visited the event.

The two-day festival returned in person for the first time in two years.

It kicked off at 4pm on Friday in the sunshine while Saturday’s rain didn’t put off visitors.

Visitors were able sample more than 30 traders, licensed bars, the Renfrewshire CAMRA Beer Tent, live music, entertainment and much more in the stunning surroundings of Paisley Abbey.

The popular Platform independent street food market also returned to the event.

Kathryn McCormick, general manager at Platform, said: “We had a fantastic weekend with our Platform on Tour area at Paisley Food and Drink Festival – and the crowd were just as happy to be back out enjoying this fab festival.

“A lovely bunch of people, great food, drinks and music. We can’t wait to come back next year!”

Paisley Food and Drink Festival is the first major event in Renfrewshire Council’s 2022 calendar. Others coming up include Sma‘ Shot Day on Saturday, July 2 and Renfrew Pipe Band Competition on Saturday, July 23.
