Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump said on Monday that a Russian businessman, described as having ties to Vladimir Putin, hosted their wedding celebration. The statement appeared on Bettina Trump’s Instagram account in a message signed “Don & Bettina.”

ProPublica reported that Umar Kremlev covered hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs tied to the newlyweds and dozens of guests. The outlet said the private-island events in the Bahamas started the day after the ceremony and that Kremlev also paid for a fireworks display.
