During Sunday night’s game between the Astros and Yankees, a Houston fan attempted to catch a fly ball, which then messed up New York’s chance to catch an out.
However, the fan interference gave Astros’ Yordan Alvarez an automatic out. This caused a mixed reaction from the crowd around the fan.
ESPN tracked down the fan during the game, and the fan gave the ultimate interview. Fans couldn’t get enough of him.
“I just wanted to make the moment special for him,” the fan, who went to the game with his son, explained. “As a father, I feel like it’s my job to make sure I give him the best moment. I apologize to the Astros organization. I didn’t know—y’all gotta understand, when it’s dropping down, it looks like it’s coming directly to you, so I reached, and my body went for what I know.”

Although he admitted his family just moved to Houston earlier this year, the fan is already a strong supporter of the team, even if he gets the name wrong.
“Truthfully, Houston loves me and I love Houston,” he said. “They cannot stop me from supporting the Asteroids (sic).”
Here’s some of the social media reaction to the now iconic interview.

Best bit of this is either when he calls the team the Astroids, or when you realise that he’s wearing a Kansas City Royals cap 😂 https://t.co/fBib9LiDt7
