MLA slams lack of support for businesses affected by flooding in North West

North West Mark H Durkan Executive Department for Communities

SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has slammed a lack of support for businesses affected by flooding in the North West.

Following heavy flooding in parts of Co Derry and Strabane on July 23, Mr Durkan said that he contacted Communities Minister Deidre Hargey to establish what emergency funding was available to help homes and businesses that had been damaged.

The Foyle MLA said he was shocked to be informed that no financial assistance was available to businesses as a previous scheme had expired.
