A missing Scots kayaker is feared dead after his boat was found capsized at sea.
Lachlan Dalgleish, 26, was last spotted on the boat as he travelled around the north of the Isle of Jura at around 2pm on Friday, February 24. Officers later received a report of a kayak having capsized near the Gulf of Corryvreckan.
Searches were called off and Lachlan's heartbroken family were informed. It's understood Lachlan was kayaking with another person when both of their boats capsized.
Coastguard found the other kayaker 'self-recovering' but Lachlan was never located.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On the afternoon of Friday, February 24, officers received a report of a kayak having capsized near the Gulf of Corryvreckan, off the Isle of Jura, around 3.30pm.
“Searches have been discontinued, and the next of kin have been informed."
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said: "Over the weekend HM Coastguard has been responding to reports of a missing kayaker in the Gulf of Corryvreckan.
"Just before 5pm on February 24 we were notified that two kayaks had capsized, with one of the kayakers self-recovering.
"Extensive searches for the second kayaker were conducted by the Jura and Port Charlotte Coastguard Rescue Teams, Oban and Isla lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick and vessels in the vicinity of the incident.
"The Coastguard’s involvement with the search terminated on Saturday (February 25) at around 5pm."
