Ministers inspect drainage work in Chennai

CHENNAI: Public works department and highways minister E V Velu, hindu religious and charitable endowments minister P K Sekar Babu on Sunday inspected the storm water drainage works in Kolathur, Egmore and Wall Tax Road areas in the Chennai city

"The works for constructing the rain water harvesting well and pumping station in Venus Nagar in Kolathur is being carried out at the cost of Rs96 lakhs and is completed 30%. The work is expected to be completed by August 15," a release said.

To drain the rainwater in Kolathur area through Thanigachalam canal to Kodungaiyur canal, a new canal is being constructed at the cost of Rs5 crore. The work is expected to be completed by October 31.
