Mike Trout somehow hit a triple on a check swing and MLB fans were in complete awe

Not too long ago, it seemed like Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani would pull off some historic, superhuman feat every game only to be accompanied by the footnote of “the Angels lost, 7-3.” Well, it’s nice to see those otherworldly moments coming in winning efforts so far this season.

Just look at what happened on Monday night.

Mike Trout, who is the best baseball player on the planet, is so good at baseball that he can hit triples by accident.

The wild hit came in the sixth inning with the Angels up a run against the Guardians. Trout was facing a 1-2 count and had to protect on anything close, but Shane Bieber did have Trout a bit fooled on a breaking ball. It didn’t matter. Even Trout’s check swings are money.

And another look:

Trout poked the ball beyond first base and down the line off a check swing, and he hustled all the way to third for a triple. He’d end up getting stranded at third (because, Angels), but the Angels won, 3-0.

No wonder MLB fans were impressed because that was just a ridiculous triple — the third-softest hit triple in the Statcast era.
