Mick Jagger’s fiancée Melanie Hamrick 'shaken and heartbroken' after being physically attacked in Mayfair

Sir Mick Jagger’s fiancée Melanie Hamrick has said she was “physically attacked” in Mayfair.

The former American Ballet Theatre dancer shared details of the incident on Instagram on Wednesday, writing that two people grabbed her from behind outside Annabel’s in Berkeley Square.

The 38-year-old said the ordeal had left her “shaken and heartbroken”.

“This is incredibly hard to share, but I was physically attacked at Annabels Mayfair tonight,” she wrote.

“I’m so thankful to my friends for protecting me. Two people grabbed me from behind and thank god for good people who stepped in to help me.

“I’m shaken, sad and heartbroken that people can treat each other this way.”

The incident is understood to have taken place outside the private members’ club.

A Met spokesperson told The Standard: “We are aware of an Instagram story alleging an assault in Mayfair on Tuesday 10 February, and encourage the victim to report this to us.

“The Met is committed to tackling crime in the West End, including violence against women and girls, and recognise the traumatic impact incidents of this nature can have on victims.

“By increasing visible patrols in identified hotspots, we have already reduced theft in the area by 30 per cent since last April, while personal robbery is down by 20 per cent, meaning thousands fewer victims.”

Hamrick, who retired from the American Ballet Theatre in 2019 after a 15-year career, has been in a relationship with Jagger, 82, since 2014. The couple share a son, Devereux.

Her account comes amid ongoing concern about high-value thefts in parts of central London.

In recent months, organised gangs have targeted luxury retailers and jewellers, with reports of smash-and-grab raids involving sledgehammers, motorbikes and vehicles used to ram storefronts.

Last month, reports emerged that Tom Cruise had left a luxury apartment in west London after concerns about security in the area.

The Mission: Impossible actor, 63, quit his £35million Knightsbridge penthouse after hammer and machete-wielding robbers targeted a nearby Rolex store for luxury watches.

Staff were seen last month packing and removing boxes of possessions from the Hollywood actor’s flat overlooking Hyde Park.

It is claimed Cruise planned to return to the United States or was looking for properties in the Cotswolds, but he has not confirmed this.

A source close to him reportedly told the Daily Mail: “The over-aggressive attack on the store below cemented the lack of security surrounding the multi-million pound fats where Cruise lives.

“He often loved to take a walk around the area but it seems like Knightsbridge is becoming less safe by the week. He felt the area has declined in the past year or two.”
