Michigan winning the College Football Playoff national championship game meant Washington had to walk away a game short.
It was a hard-fought national title game, with Michigan pulling away late in the fourth quarter after Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. led a valiant comeback effort in the second half.
As Penix exited the field after the loss, Michigan defensive end Jaylen Harrell classily jogged over to meet Penix in one of the stadium tunnels at NRG Stadium and congratulated him on a great effort on the field.
After such a difficult loss as the one Washington took on Monday night, it was really neat to see Harrell go out of his way to give Penix his flowers.
Michael Penix gave it his all.
What a college career 👏

Sportsmanship is always important in big moments like this, and Harrell did a very admirable thing by showing Penix some love in such a tough moment for the Washington quarterback.
This is how you win a national title: with abundant class and real respect for your opponent.
