Edinburgh is sadly one Michelin Star down following the news Number One at The Balmoral has lost the highly-sought after culinary distinction.
However, despite the disappointment, the city still boasts three restaurants which have retained their Michelin Star status.
Condita, Martin Wishart and The Kitchin will all still have a star above their door for 2022, while a grand total of 26 Edinburgh eateries are included in the Michelin Guide for 2022, a testament to the strength of the Capital's food and drink scene.
Restaurants of course don't need the accolade of a Michelin Star to prove their worth - a cosy neighbourhood diner can spark as much foodie love as one charging a triple figure sum for a high-end tasting menu.
And we wanted the people of Edinburgh to shout about their favourite restaurants, irrespective of what the folks over at Michelin feel we should be celebrating.
Yesterday we put out the question on our Facebook page - which Edinburgh food spots would you give a Michelin Star to? Here are some of the top responses.
The Huxley
Much-loved for its brilliant burgers and comprehensive cocktail selection, The Rutland Hotel restaurant earned a few of our reader's recommendations, with one person commenting on the eatery's 'delicious' Mac & Cheese.
They also hailed The Huxley's 'wonderful service and really affordable prices'.
Dine
As one reader simply put, Dine is 'always excellent', with others suggesting it's the service at the Saltire Court brasserie that makes all the difference.
They commented: "Phone service great, greetings at the door great, bar service great, food excellent, table service attentive but not hovering. A great package."
Bread Street Kitchen & Bar
Gordon Ramsay's 'modern all-day restaurant' also got a lot of love - that's despite it receiving mixed reviews since opening last year.
As we reported recently, some Edinburgh foodies have found the new venue 'a bit odd', while others are more than happy to give it the full five stars on TripAdvisor.
Fabio's Restaurant
Readers were quick to suggest Fabio's Restaurant in Corstorphine should be deserving of a Michelin Star.
The local family-run Italian has been serving up authentic dishes for more than 20 years and has clearly developed a loyal following throughout the two decades.
Royal Scots Club
Delivering 'an exquisite dining experience' to members and guests, the elegant Royal Scots Club on Abercromby Place also garnered a bit of attention on our Facebook post.
The restaurant has received rave reviews for its focus on showcasing fine Scottish fare.
Fazenda
'Brilliant food, great service', as one reader put - all you really want from a good restaurant.
Known for carving the finest cuts of South American meat right at your table, we've previously hailed this place as a 'city centre favourite', given its immense popularity.
Terra Marique
Terra Marique has been a huge hit since opening back in 2019.
That year, we included it in our round-up as of the city's most exciting new restaurants, commenting owners Ilaria Torre and Fabrizio Babbucci's venue was 'breathing new life into the capital's Italian food scene'.
And it seems that plenty of our readers agree!
Aizle
Aizle, which prides itself of making everything in-house at its base in the Garden Room at The Kimpton Charlotte Square, invites its guests to dine in a beautiful setting.
But as our readers have put forward, this place is about substance as well as style, with one Facebook reviewer even suggesting it was 'the best food they've ever eaten'.
Rhubarb
Highlighted by one of our readers as having an 'absolutely phenomenal' team, the Prestonfield restaurant was one of your most common calls when we asked where Edinburgh's next Michelin Star should go.
The owners behind Rhubarb say the Prestonfield House restaurant aims to 'deliver all of the gourmet delights, magic, drama and romance' to its diners.
Six by Nico
We recently visited Edinburgh's Six by Nico to see if it was worth the hype, with one of our reporters sharing their hugely positive review on the site back in November.
'Rich flavours and mouth watering combinations' were the order of the day on that particular visit and it seems many of our readers have had similar experiences at the Hanover Street restaurant.
