Alongside the announcement for the new Meta Quest 3 last week Meta stated that there will also be a Meta Quest 2 price drop.
Just hours prior to the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Meta announced its brand new Meta Quest 3 virtual reality headset, which we will get an in-depth look at during Meta Connect later this year likely followed by pre-orders opening. The newest headset is set to bring more power than its predecessor to the table, however, full specifications haven't been revealed yet.
Alongside this announcement came confirmation that we will also be seeing a Meta Quest 2 price drop which has now taken effect. This comes after the Meta Quest 2 price has been constantly adjusted, with the cost increased in August 2022 and then dropping again in March 2023.
The Meta Quest 2 will now come in £299.99 / $299.99 / AU$509.99 for the 128GB edition and then £349.99 / $349.99 / AU$589.99 for the 256GB edition. This will seemingly be the last price adjustment before all eyes are on the Meta Quest 3, which will retail for $499, translating to £403 or AU$756 but keep in mind that regional pricing is rarely a straight conversion.
According to Meta, its latest headset will surpass the Meta Quest 2 in power but this definitely doesn't make the predecessor obsolete, especially considering the fact that the Meta Quest 3 will be backwards compatible. This indicates that developers will hopefully continue to produce games for the older headset.
This means if you're yet to get your hands on a VR headset, then now may be the best time as you can take advantage of the Meta Quest 2 price drop. Some third-party retailers have not started selling the headset at the new reduced retail cost just yet so ensure you're double-checking how much your purchase is coming to before checking out.
Where to look for Meta Quest 2 price drop
Despite these being listed as a sale at many retailers, keep in mind that this isn't a temporary price slash. Meta has confirmed that this will be the new retail cost for the Meta Quest 2.
UK Retailers
US Retailers
All of the above retailers offer free shipping when you pick up the headset too so you don't have to worry about incurring any extra costs.
