Met Office confirms 24C scorcher is hottest day of the year - with more yet to come

Brits have been basking in the hottest day of the year on Saturday, with temperatures higher than Ibiza - and there could be even warmer weather ahead.

With sunshine and blue skies around the country, the mercury rose to 24.3C, which the Met Office confirmed was the warmest so far in 2023.

The hottest spot was Bramham, in west Yorkshire, where people enjoyed temperatures higher than the Spanish island of Ibiza where it reached 23C on Saturday.
