Met Eireann's brutal forecast for Dublin with thunderstorms, hail, and flooding amid weather warning

Get ready for a washout week as Met Eireann has issued a grim forecast for Dublin.

A rain warning is in place for Munster and Galway with the national forecaster warning of "spells of rain that will be heavy at times leading to spot flooding.". The Status Yellow alert will be in place until 3pm today.

Today will be wet and windy with blustery rain bringing a risk of spot flooding in the capital. Clear spells will develop with the rain easing into the Irish Sea during the late afternoon or early evening with daytime temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.

Tonight will be cold and blustery with clear spells and some scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms and hail could hit and the temperatures will be in the lows of 2 to 6 degrees.

Tomorrow will be windy and showery which could merge into longer spells of rain. Met Eireann has also warned of isolated thunderstorms and hail. It will, however, dry up later in the afternoon before outbreaks of rain come in from the southwest in the evening. Daytime temperatures will be around 7 to 9 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Wednesday night

"Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees will occur early in the night. Widespread outbreaks of rain are expected to move in from the west with low cloud and mist too. Southwesterly winds will be rather brisk at times across the southern half of the country, but much lighter elsewhere.

Thursday

"Dull and damp at first, with locally wet conditions. While sunny spells will develop, some passing blustery showers will track west to east too, some turning to hail across Atlantic counties later. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, in fresh to strong southwesterly winds.

Thursday night

" A mix of clear spells and scattered showers, turning prolonged across the north and northwest with the potential for hail and isolated thunderstorms. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees with brisk southwesterly winds all the while.

Friday

"Daytime blustery showers will mainly affect the north and northwest with sunny spells across many other areas. Remaining blustery though, in fresh and gusty westerly winds. Feeling cold with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees."
