While January is almost over, the wet and windy weather looks set to stay at least for the next few days, according to Met Eireann.
But the sun will split its way through as the month goes on, making for a bright start to spring.
For today it will be generally cloudy with some patchy drizzle but much of the southern half of the country will have a dry day.
There will be highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.
Tonight will have a lot of dry weather with just a few spots of drizzle. There will be lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
And here is how Met Eireann predict the next four weeks will go:
Week 1 (Monday 31 January to Sunday 06 February)
High pressure will dominate in the Atlantic centred towards the southwest of the country, and Ireland should experience milder temperatures than usual.
The blustery and wetter conditions will stay mostly in the north for the first week of February.
Week 2 (Monday 07 February to Sunday 13 February)
For the second week of February, high pressure continues to build over the country with above-average temperatures and drier conditions.
Unfortunately, the northwest will continue to see the worst of the weather with above-average rainfall for the first half of the week. It will get dryer in the northwest as the week progresses.
Due to the more settled conditions in the second week, there is a risk of fog.
Week 3 (Monday 14 February to Sunday 20 February)
The high pressure looks set to be in retreat for the third week as it centres over the Bay of Biscay. Due to a westerly flow, temperatures will continue to stay above average but rainfall is to increase for large swathes of the country.
There may be more rainfall but the blustery condition of the previous weeks should be gone.
Week 4 (Monday 21 February to Sunday 27 February)
The forecast for the final week of February is a little bit more uncertain. High pressure looks set to remain but it will be weakening as we progress through the week.
Above-average rainfall for the north and west but temperatures will continue to be high for the time of year.
Overall, the risk of hazardous weather will be minimal in week 4.
