An estimated 2M bees escape after a semi overturns in Texas – less than 2 months after North Dakota experienced a similar accident

A semi-truck hauling beehives reportedly overturned in Mauriceville, Texas, releasing an estimated 2 million bees into the surrounding area. According to BroBible, the crash occurred on Colony Lane after the truck failed to negotiate a turn. The truck was said to be carrying around 50,000 pounds of bees at the time of the rollover.

Local authorities urged residents in the area to stay indoors as crews worked to contain the situation. Orange County Emergency Services District #4 issued a warning asking people living near the crash site to remain inside their homes while emergency responders and beekeepers worked to manage the swarm.
