Men kicked out of 'empty' house on troubled road

Two men were kicked out of an empty house on a troubled road.

Officers attended the empty property on Newling Street in Birkenhead on Wedneday, April 13 after police received a number of complaints regarding anti-social behaviour and "criminality". When police got to the property they found two men inside the house.

After speaking to officers the men agreed to leave on their own accord. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said the property has "now been made secure". Photos of the house show the front door and what appears to be the back window and door now boarded up.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "On Wednesday April 13, police officers from #TeamBeb and officers from Wirral Council's ASB Team attended a vacant property in Newling Street, Birkenhead following a number of complaints regarding anti-social behaviour and criminality.

"Officers located two males inside the property who agreed to leave on their own accord. The property has now been made secure. If your street is being plagued with criminality and/or anti-social behaviour please remember to report it on 999 in an emergency, or alternatively private message Merseyside Police Contact Centre or online if the report is not urgent."

This is not the first time Newling Street in Birkenhead has been reported for criminal activity. Back in February Wirral Targeted Team executed a warrant at an address on the road under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Merseyside Police was told there were no drugs being sold from the address, and saw a handmade sign in the window of the property which read: "This is not a knock on. I smoke it, not sell it". However, after a search on the Birkenhead property, police uncovered a large amount of suspected Class A Drugs, cash, mobile phones and tick lists.

Police arrested a woman for suspected drug offences in Birkenhead (Liverpool ECHO)

60 wraps of white and brown powder and a quantity of cash was recovered. A 57-year-old woman from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin and possession of criminal property.

She was taken into custody and has been questioned by police but was released under investigation pending further enquiries. Back in January a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of drug offences. Police carried out a search at a house nearby and found a number of weapons and a large amount of drugs including around 2,500 wraps of crack cocaine, uncut heroin, multiple bags of brown powder and approximately 2kg of cannabis bush.

Together, the drugs were estimated to have a street value of £30k. At the time both the man and woman were taken to custody for further questioning.
