Mayo community heartbroken as young woman who died in horror St Patrick's Day crash named locally

The young woman who died in a St Patrick's day crash in Co Mayo has been named locally as Tracey Moran.

Tracey, aged in her 20s, died in the collision on the L5243 at Knocknalower, Pullathomas at around 11.15pm on Thursday night.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident, which is believed to have involved the car colliding with a wall.

She was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries but later died.

A post on RIP.ie reads: "She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, brothers in law Jonathan and Brendan, Thomas’ partner Shannon, Rebecca’s partner Kevin, her partner Liam, cherished nieces and nephews Seán Óg, Séimí, Aodh, Donagh, Cúan, T.J. and Zoe, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends."

Funeral arrangements are to be released at a later date.

Gardai are continuing to ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Mayo are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred last night, Thursday 17th March 2022.

"At approximately 11:15pm, Gardaí were alerted to a single vehicle road traffic collision, when a car is understood to have collided with a wall, on the L5243 at Knocknalower, Pullathomas in Co. Mayo.

"A female in her 20s was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for her injuries before she later passed.

"The road is currently closed to allow for a technical examination to take place by Forensic Collision Investigators.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Belmullet Gardaí on 097 819 10, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
