Max Verstappen backs up sprint victory with pole for Singapore Grand Prix

  • Max Verstappen secured victory in the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race before taking pole position for Sunday's main race.
  • Ferrari's Charles Leclerc qualified second, missing out on pole by 0.054 seconds, with teammate Lewis Hamilton lining up in third place.
  • Championship leader Kimi Antonelli qualified fourth for Mercedes, extending his title lead over teammate George Russell to 88 points.
  • George Russell crashed out of the sprint race and will start Sunday's Grand Prix from the back of the grid following an engine penalty.
  • Lewis Hamilton finished second in the sprint race and expressed hope that Ferrari can work as a team to challenge Verstappen.
