Caught not being straight with the British public ahead of a stint in the I’m A Celeb jungle, Matt Hancock reveals his contempt for his constituents. The Tory former Health Secretary claimed he would be contactable during the show but ITV insiders have flatly contradicted him.
The revelation underlines the selfishness, arrogance and untrustworthiness of an MP pursuing fame and fortune at the cost of those he was elected to serve. Hancock’s dismal record, from Covid to an ambulance crisis, is the result of years and years of underfunding and mismanagement.
He can’t escape his legacy of disaster by fleeing to Australia. TV viewers will undoubtedly enjoy watching Hancock eating unsavoury bits of kangaroos.
But the good people of his West Suffolk constituency – and the rest of Britain – deserve better than members of government shirking their duties to play the fool on a game show.
Rishi Sunak is a COP out as PM
Rishi Sunak has turned out to be yet another Conservative Prime Minister unable to make up his mind. He first said he would not go to the COP 27 climate conference in Egypt later this month but it has finally dawned on him that he must.
Global warming is a deadly threat to our planet. With world leaders such as US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron – emerging as Europe’s unofficial leader – in Sharm El Sheikh, we need a PM who can be a persuasive voice for Britain.
The inconsistency in No10 is both wearying and evidence that the Conservative Party hasn’t a clue what it is doing.
Christmas ads already - let us honour war heroes properly
John Lewis, Disney, Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Boots… the Christmas adverts are coming thick and fast, so happy shopping.
It just would be nice if we could get past Remembrance Sunday and pay tribute to our honoured dead before we have to start worrying about what presents to buy.
