Maryland Receives Million For Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore

The federal government has allocated $60 million to Maryland officials to address the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, as confirmed by a news release from the Federal Highway Administration. This funding was requested by Maryland Governor Wes Moore as an initial step in the response efforts for the bridge collapse.

Federal Highway Administration chief Shailen Bhatt stated that the emergency funding will be utilized for crucial tasks such as debris removal, traffic rerouting, and the eventual reconstruction of the bridge. This financial support aims to kickstart the cleanup and rebuilding process, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the transportation infrastructure in the area.

In addition to the allocated amount, the state has the option to request further funding as needed for the comprehensive restoration of the bridge. Maryland's congressional delegation has expressed their commitment to advocating for additional financial support from fellow lawmakers to facilitate the complete reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
