Marvel Avengers 'Hawkeye' Jeremy Renner in critical condition after snow-plough accident

Marvel Avenger Jeremy Renner has been left in what's been described as a critical but stable condition following an accident whilst ploughing snow.

The superhero actor, who is known for his role as Clint Barton in the Marvel franchise, was airlifted to hospital after sustaining injuries in the incident over the New Year weekend.

A statement was released on January 1 to the Hollywood Reporter from a spokesperson for Jeremy, who said: "We can confirm Jeremy is in a critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care."

During his career the 51-year-old, has been nominated for two Oscars during his career for his performances in 2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker and 2010 crime drama The Town, reports The Manchester Evening News.

In recent weeks a ‘blizzard of the century’ hit the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where Jeremy owns a ranch above Lake Tahoe. The storm massively affected the area, leaving 35,00 households without electricity in the Northern Nevada counties Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Storey and Lyon, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

The superhero actor took to Twitter on December 13 to comment on the storm conditions, posting an image of the snow and writing: "Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke."
