Amazon shoppers are currently flocking to the online marketplace, making the most of the tech giant's spring sales - and there's one product in particular which could lead to substantial savings in the long run.
Amazon began slashing prices across the board on Monday (March 27), with a number of the company's own-brand products up for grabs on the cheap. And there's one in particular which has been backed by consumer expert and Money Saving Expert founder, Martin Lewis.
The smart gadget promises to allow shoppers to find out which devices around the home are consuming the most energy, so they can be switched off and savvy shoppers can watch the savings slowly roll in.

The Mirror reports that the Smart Home Starter Kit which is now down from £79.98 to £41.99, is made up of two gadgets that monitor energy consumption. The bundle includes a smart plug and the latest-generation Echo Dot, allowing you to control any device with voice activation.
Smart plugs are available to buy individually on the Amazon site, including the 'Amazon Smart Plug' that's down to just £14.99 in the retailer's Spring Sale. The Amazon smart plug can connect to your Alexa or Echo Dot to monitor and keep track of plug-in home devices.
The £41.99 Smart Home Starter Kit is ideal for those who don't already have a smart speaker or smart plug, plus you'll be saving nearly 50% if you buy it today. Money-saving guru Martin Lewis and the team at his MoneySavingExpert website recommend smart plugs in their energy-saving tips checklist, so it comes as no surprise that Amazon shoppers have been rushing to buy them.
One person called the Amazon Smart Plug an 'excellent piece of kit'.
Another shopper said: "So pleased with this smart plug. It has been a godsend as bedroom lamp is not next to bed and by asking Alexa to turn plug on she does and lamp turns on. Once in bed by saying Alexa turn plug off the lamp goes off - job done."
