Married At First Sight's Amy banned from bookies because she's 'too good at betting'

Married At First Sight star Amy Christophers has spoken about how she got banned from her local bookmakers because she was 'really good' at betting.

In an exclusive chat with Mirror Online, the television personality, 35, revealed at one point she was so successful with her wins, bookies "thought it was a bit dodgy" and she had to reassure them she didn't have insiders information.

Amy, who is set to take racing fans behind the scenes on Racing TV's social media, talked about getting into horse race presenting and how she was able to just live off the money she had made from her bets.

"I used to do football betting and everything and then from there I started to get more into the horses," she said.

"I actually got really good at betting at one point and I was actually just living off betting money. I got really, really good.

"I got banned from local bookies because I was doing so well. They thought it was a bit dodgy. I was like 'no, I don't have insider information. I'm just good at betting'."

Amy, who rose to fame of the Channel 4 dating show last year, talked about her passion for horse racing and described how it can often be viewed as a "prestige sport" as she is set to show Racing TV's followers behind-the-scenes.

"Unless you're in it you'll never know how it works," she said.

She added: "It's a dream come true. We get access all areas and, speaking to the trainers take you in the stable. I also want to make a big push as well to show what happens to horses are no longer racing.

"People just think they get killed and that's not the case. A lot are adopted, or become family pets."

Elsewhere in the interview, Amy revealed she is in a whirlwind romance after meeting firefighter Leon McKenzie, 38, on the dating app Hinge just over a month ago.

The former model was left heartbroken after her marriage with Joshua Christie, 26, broke down on the Channel 4 show.

But now, Amy thinks she has found 'The One'.

She said: "We've been together just over a month, things have got pretty serious already. We just met and knew we found our person.

"We met on Hinge, and we were like chatting for a week. It's weird we already knew before we met each other that like we found each other.

"It's just really nice and then it was a matter of meeting in person. Our eyes locked, it was mad. I was like oh wow this is it. In my head I was like 'f**k this is mad'. He feels the same as well.

"It is a bit of a whirlwind, we're like not really taking things slow. No slow burners here. You know, it's still slower than marrying a stranger, right?"

Amy presents Racing TV’s #Raceday, and is taking new and existing racing fans behind the scenes on social media to bring the stories and buzz of a raceday to life. Follow on Instagram and Tik Tok and use #Raceday to get closer to the action.
