Marcus Rashford set to sign new Manchester United contract

Manchester United are increasingly hopeful of agreeing a new contract with Marcus Rashford.

Sources say they are hopeful there will be a formal announcement on Rashford's new deal sooner rather than later.

Rashford, 25, is approaching the final year of his existing contract and Paris Saint-Germain are firm admirers but the forward is expected to become one of United's highest earners after scoring 30 goals last season.

Rashford also became the first United academy graduate to receive the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award. Rashford's new salary is likely to be in excess of £300,000-a-week.

The England international scored in their 7-0 European Championship qualifying thrashing of North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Rashford's future was uncertain last year after he scored a meagre five goals in the 2021-22 campaign and did not start in the Manchester derby at the Etihad in March 2022.

However, Rashford enjoyed a career-best season under Erik ten Hag, who has remained confident of a renewal despite the protracted negotiations.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed the club's interest in Rashford in December. Rashford's brother and agent, Dwaine, met officials from the Ligue 1 club in August.
