Manhattan prosecutors are urging Judge Juan Merchan to make a decision on former President Donald Trump's motion to vacate his conviction in the hush money case. The prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney's office emphasized the importance of ruling on Trump's motion regarding presidential immunity without delay.
Judge Merchan had previously indicated that he would rule on Trump's challenge to his conviction based on the Supreme Court's immunity decision on September 16. However, Trump's legal team recently filed a motion to pause the decision on presidential immunity to allow the federal court process to unfold.
This marks Trump's second attempt to transfer the case to federal court, following the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity. In addition to seeking a transfer, Trump has also requested Judge Merchan to postpone his sentencing, which is currently set for September 18. A decision on these matters is anticipated to be made this week.
