Erik ten Hag will make his FA Cup bow when Manchester United host Everton in the third round in January.
The tie is set to be broadcast live on free-to-air TV during the tail end of a busy festive period upon the resumption of the season after the World Cup. United last lifted the FA Cup when they beat Crystal Palace courtesy of a Jesse Lingard extra-time winner in 2016.
The Reds had defeated Everton in the semi-final with Anthony Martial’s last-minute striker proving to be decisive in the 2-1 win. David de Gea and Marcus Rashford are the only other players from that matchday squad who still remain at Old Trafford.

United have played the Toffees 12 times in FA Cup history, both clubs winning six games apiece. Everton have tasted their own semi-final glory in that time, defeating United on penalties to reach the 2009 final where they lost to Chelsea.
Their first meeting in the competition for six years will see Frank Lampard revisit the Theatre of Dreams, the Chelsea hero scoring the winning goal against Everton in that 2009 final. His association with the competition runs deep having won it four times as a player, whereas Ten Hag will make his debut in it next month.
The clash will be shown live by ITV on Friday, January 6 with kick-off at 8pm. Viewers will be able to watch the game on ITV1, catch-up service ITVX as well as UTV, STV and STV Player.
It will be United’s second game of 2023 taken on Bournemouth in the Premier League four days earlier. United restart the campaign three days after the World Cup final with a League Cup clash with Championship side Burnley on December 21.
They then welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on December 27 before a trip to Molineux to take on Wolves on New Year’s Eve.
