Manchester United injury round-up and return dates after Liverpool loss as three stars still out

Manchester United still have three players sidelined with injuries ahead of their midweek Europa League tie with Real Betis.

Luke Shaw returned from a knock to play the full 90 minutes of Sunday's 7-0 drubbing against Liverpool, while Jadon Sancho had recovered sufficiently from a bout of illness but he was an unused sub. Both players missed the midweek FA Cup fifth round win over West Ham United.

After those welcome returns to the matchday squad, just three United players are sidelined ahead of the upcoming Europa League round of 16 tie against Betis. Here is the latest on each of the trio.

Christian Eriksen

Injury: Ankle

Return date: Late April

What Eriksen has said: "I'm feeling well. It's always boring to be in a boot and to be on crutches, but I have left the crutches and am now only in a boot, and next week that should be gone, then finally start learning to walk. But it feels good."

Anthony Martial

Injury: Hip

Return date: Unknown

What Ten Hag said: "I don't have an expectation about [his return]; let him do his work. Several times now, he comes back, and he drops back too quickly. When he is available, then we have an extra option, and a good option, so give him time."

Donny van de Beek

Injury: Knee

Return date: Start of pre-season

What Ten Hag has said: "The bad news is that he's out for the rest of the season, but the good news is, in the longer term, his knee will be okay, and he will be ready again to play at the highest levels and will be ready for the start of pre-season."
