Manchester United injury news and potential return dates ahead of Southampton as Martial suffers setback

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has suffered another setback as the club prepare for their Premier League lunchtime kick-off against Southampton on Saturday.

United will travel to the south coast to take on the Saints who come into the game off the back of an impressive win away at Leicester City, after winning in the Carabao Cup midweek.

The game will see Casemiro make his debut, after the Brazilian defensive midfielder signed from Real Madrid earlier this week and was presented to the fans before the Liverpool game.

Southampton pose a different threat to Liverpool, who dominated possession against the Red Devils but Erik ten Hag's side made them pay when they needed to and came away with the win.

And Ten Hag has provided some more disappointing news over the availability of Martial as the forward has suffered yet another injury blow. The Dutchman confirmed during his press conference that the striker has injured his achilles and will not be available for the Southampton match.

United's manager confirmed that he is hopeful to have Martial back for the following weekend when the Reds take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Ten Hag did give some good news during his press conference as he confirmed that Casemiro has trained with the squad and is fit to make his debut against the Saints.

Victor Lindelof and Facundo Pellistri are still believed to be out. The former picked up a knock earlier this month, while Pellistri suffered an ankle injury in pre-season, and is not expected back until September.

Brandon Williams, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones are all still injured. Their return dates are unknown.
