Manchester United academy graduate Joe Rothwell admits returning to the Premier League was always his main ambition after leaving Old Trafford six years ago. Rothwell has just signed for newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth after spells lower down the English football pyramid.
Rothwell, 27, was born in Manchester and progressed through the club's famous academy system. However, while he was named on the bench for one Premier League match by Louis van Gaal during his tenure, he never made a senior United appearance.
Instead, the former England U20 international carved out his reputation at Oxford and now switches to the south coast after playing more than 250 senior games. He spent four seasons with Blackburn and leaves them on a free transfer with his contract set to expire at the end of this month.
