Manager's perfect comeback to rude diner leaving several ‘terrible’ reviews

Pub customers were left in stitches about a manager's amusing comeback to a rude diner.

The Churchill Bar's manager responded to a customer who left his second negative review in three months, according to BirminghamLive.

The customer used TripAdvisor to leave two separate reviews for the bar in the West Midlands in June and August.

The Churchill Bar has a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor, more than 200 reviews and is ranked as the third best restaurant in Wednesbury according to the review site.

A recent review praised Churchill’s Bar’s "exceptional staff" with others saying it had "great service" and "amazing food".

But the unnamed diner said they would give the bar in West Midlands, England the "benefit of the doubt".

The venue said they had a lot of good reviews and perhaps the diner had been "unlucky" when visiting before.

The diner then left another "terrible review" after their first visit in August saying they are "unlikely to ever visit again".

Among their complaints the anonymous reviewer said the service "was poor with wrong orders and slow".

The review was titled "awful food and service" and gave the bar a "terrible" one rating.

The unhappy diner wrote: "After two previously very disappointing visits I thought I would give the place the benefit of the doubt and try one more time because of all the good reviews and perhaps I had been very unlucky on the last two occasions. What a mistake!

"If anything, the food was even worse with dried-out, tasteless meat, awful burnt roast potatoes, and parsnips, watery mashed potatoes, and the other veg that was equally as bad. The service was poor with orders wrong and slow.

"I know that Sundays are a busy time but if there is a staffing problem this should have been addressed by now.

"Because there were a number of us we were very short of space which made eating uncomfortable with no elbow room.

"The quality of the food and service is not reflected in the price and nearly every nearby carveries are cheaper with better food and service. After three awful visits I am unlikely to go again."

The manager responded agreeing that it was 'probably best' the diner doesn't come again (Google)

The general manager of Churchill's Bar, named Chris on TripAdvisor, responded to the unhappy diner.

He agreed that it was "probably best" they don’t come again.

Chris' response said: "You reviewed us only 12 weeks ago with almost identical comments.

"I invited you at the time to reach out to us via email so that we could discuss your concerns. (You didn't)."

"You have apparently visited twice since and had terrible experiences. May I suggest that your comments are best directed to a member of staff on the day whilst you are actually inside our premises.

"That way we can review your concerns in real time and address them accordingly. I'm sorry to hear we have not lived up to your expectations, you have mentioned you are unlikely to visit us again and in this instance I must agree with you that it is probably best you don’t.

Amongst the 218 reviews on Churchill bar, 200 are rated as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good' (Google)
