Man who won over €125m on EuroMillions finds new life 'quite boring'

A man who won over €125million on the lottery has admitted his new lavish lifestyle is "quite boring".

Neil Trotter, from Coulsdon, a town in south London, won the EuroMillions prize of £107.9m (€125.75m) back in 2014.

The Camelot group, which runs the lottery in the UK, warned him not to do anything with his winnings straight away.

He did end up splashing the cash on a Grade II-listed mansion, complete with its own lake set in 400 acres of land, Mirror.co.uk reports.

Before becoming a millionaire, Neil worked as a mechanic. As a race-car fan, he traded in his Ford Focus for a Jaguar and a Porsche.

But since his big win, he quit his job - only to find that his new life of luxury and leisure bored him.

He said: "Going from having to work to not having to work any more was quite a strange thing to adjust to. I soon found out that sitting at home watching telly all day was quite boring.”

He always had an inkling that he would become a lottery winner, even going as far to tell all his friends and family that he would one day win big.

Speaking back in 2019 he said: “Being a Trotter, I knew I’d be a millionaire one day – and I somehow knew I’d win the lottery.

“I used to tell my dad I’d have a house with a lake, and he’d say, ‘In your dreams, son!’

"I had such a strong feeling on the Friday that I’d win, I told the secretary at work.

“Winning allowed me to go back to my first love – racing. And I‘ve the house with a lake.”

Neil even had an eerie premonition about his fortunes, which led him to tell staff at his dad’s office on the day of his win that “this time tomorrow" he’d be a millionaire.

It was only a few hours later that his EuroMillions Lucky Dip ticked banked him £107,932,603.20, making him the fourth biggest lottery winner in the country at the time.

Joe Thwaite, 49, and wife Jess, 44, were most recently the winners of the biggest EuroMillions jackpot, after their ticket bagged them a total of £184,262,899.10 in May this year. Two months later, an anonymous winner came forward to claim a jackpot of £195m.
