A man is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after his car was smashed into by a hit-and-run driver fleeing a police chase.
The 36-year-old was smashed into by a black BMW being pursued by police along Honeypot Lane in Stanmore at 12.34am on Wednesday.
The suspect, who was chased for a total of three minutes, fled the scene of the crash on foot.
There have been no arrests.
Shocking images posted by Harrow Online show a black car with the bonnet smashed into a fence with another wreck in the middle of the road.
Honeypot Lane remains closed off to traffic as forensics scour the scene.
A Met spokesman said: “At around 00:31hrs on Wednesday, 19 October officers on patrol in a marked vehicle in Stanmore attempted to stop a black BMW.
“The driver of the BMW failed to stop when indicated to do so. He drove away from officers who pursued him.
“At 00:34hrs, the BMW was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in Honeypot Lane. The driver of the BMW ran from the scene.
“The occupant of one of the other vehicles, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening but potentially life changing.
“The road remains closed while an investigation is carried out.”
