A man has been seriously injured after a smash involving a motorbike and a car in Bury. It happened on Rochdale Old Road shortly before 10:30pm last night (Friday).
A Kawasaki motorcycle and a Vauxhall Insignia were involved in a collision Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. Emergency services including police and paramedics raced to the scene close to Bury hospice.
The road was taped off and closed in both directions from the junctions with Cuckoo Lane to Topping Fold Road whilst they dealt with the incident. A damaged green motorbike could be seen inside the cordon.

An eyewitness said the bike rider was taken to hospital, and that the driver of the car remained at the scene and could be seen co-operating with officers.
GMP said one man was taken to hospital with injuries that are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
"At 10.29pm police received a report of a collision involving a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Vauxhall Insignia on Rochdale Old Road" a force spokesperson said.
"The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene. A man was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening."
