A man has died following a serious assault in Co Kildare.
The victim, aged in his 40s, was discovered with serious injuries outside a home in Piercetown, Newbridge on Wednesday morning. He was taken to hospital where he was in critical condition.
He has now been pronounced dead at Naas General Hospital. A man in his 30s was arrested as part of the investigation and remains detained at Newbridge Garda Station.

A garda spokesman said: "The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. An incident room has been established at Newbridge Garda Station and an investigation is continuing under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO).
