Attempted murder charges filed in shooting that critically wounded man during argument in South Austin

Attempted murder charges have been filed in a shooting that critically wounded a man during an argument over the weekend in South Austin on the West Side.

Keyon Hayes, 20, began arguing with a 32-year-old man inside a house in the 1100 block of North Massasoit Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Saturday when they went outside, police said. Hayes pulled a gun and fired at the man, police said.

The 32-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to the back of the head and left knee, police said. He was listed in critical condition.

Hayes was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, police said. He was due in bond court Tuesday.
