A man has been held on suspicion of attempted murder after a double stabbing on Bury New Road, Salford. Two victims suffered serious injuries before their attackers smashed up the parked car they were sat in.
They were in an Audi A1 on the busy main route from Manchester to the Bury suburbs when they were attacked on Friday July 8th. Police revealed last week that that a gang of possibly three men who were also in a car launched the assault. They were armed with baseball bats, machetes, and wrenches.
The two victims were both stabbed twice. Police were alerted at 8.15pm. One of the injured males was later arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs. It is not known if the victims were lured to the location which was near the junction with New Hall Road in the Broughton Park area.

In a statement issued today, GMP said: "Detectives investigating a stabbing in Salford are appealing for information. At around 8:15pm on Friday 8 July 2022, police were called to reports of a stabbing on Bury New Road, Salford. Two men were stabbed in the vehicle, and they received serious injuries. Both have now been released from hospital.
"A 29-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder and assault and remains in custody. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information or witnessed this incident."
Detectives are trying to establish if the incident is a gangland dispute, a vigilante-style attack or "taxing", where one gang robs another. Just two and a half hours after the incident a gunman opened fire in Halliwell Lane, Cheetham Hill, less than a mile away. No one was injured. The two incidents are not being linked.
