  • Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, an Iraqi man, has been accused of plotting to bomb a New York synagogue and other Jewish sites across the United States.
  • Prosecutors allege Al-Saadi attempted to recruit an individual to carry out these attacks, who was in fact an undercover law enforcement officer.
  • Al-Saadi faces multiple terrorism-related charges, including conspiring to provide material support to Iran-aligned groups such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Kata’ib Hizbollah.
  • The alleged plot involved coordinating attacks on three locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Scottsdale, Arizona, with a proposed payment of $10,000 in cryptocurrency.
  • Al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey and transferred to FBI custody, appearing in federal court where he did not enter a plea, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for 29 May.
