Malik Tillman transfer latest as possible post-Rangers destination revealed

Eintracht Frankfurt could be set to inflict another painful blow to Rangers by snapping up Malik Tillman from Bayern Munich.

And they are hopeful Tillman's good relationship with new boss Dino Toppmoller and his coaching staff will help swing the deal.

Tillman spent the season at Rangers and was hugely impressive until a hamstring injury picked up in the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic ended his season and his loan spell.

Since then, there have been conflicting reports about his future and the intricacies of the agreement between Bayern Munich and Rangers.

Rangers triggered the option to sign him permanently for £5 million, but the Bundesliga champions cancelled that which entitled the Ibrox club to significant compensation which reportedly included a £1 million fee and future add-ons.

However, Eintracht - who beat Rangers in the 2022 Europa League Final in Seville on penalties - have been credited with a strong interest in the USA international, who could now be set to stay in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht hired Toppmoller last month, who spent two years at Bayern Munich with Tillman. And he's just appointed Stefan Buck as his assistant manager.

Buck was in charge of Bayern's youth coaches set-up and was reserve assistant manager too, where he worked with Tillman.

And reports in Germany have suggested Eintracht would have to pay around £6 million with add-ons to land the 21-year-old former Ibrox star.

Tillman's older brother Timothy appeared to offer Rangers some hope earlier this month when he stated: "I don't know what the future holds for Malik.

"But I will say he really likes it in Glasgow and with Rangers."
