Major Edinburgh Airport hotel planned with restaurant, fitness centre and bar

A major new Edinburgh Airport hotel is planned with restaurant, bar and fitness suite.

The City of Edinburgh Council validated a proposal for the new hotel on Wednesday February 16.

The application follows on from an Ibis hotel currently being built at the site near Ingliston Road in Newbridge.

It is under construction and due to open early next year, featuring a unique ‘plaza’ urban design concept.

The latest application for the site at East Mains Of Ingliston is located adjacent to the north carriageway of the A8.

However, at this stage in the process it is unknown who will be operating the new hotel.

Montagu Evans prepared a covering letter on the planning application and described the hotel as a “major development.”

They said: “Given that the extent of the gross new build floorspace proposed will be in excess of 5,000 sqm, the development is categorised as a major development proposal in the context of the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2009.”

Montagu Evens went on to say that the local councillors Graham Hutchison, Kevin Lang, Norman Work and Louise Young, and The Ratho and District Community Council, had all been sent notice of the early planning bid.

Edinburgh Council are expected to make a decision in the coming days and weeks on the latest application for the site at East Mains of Ingliston.
