Maharashtra Crisis: SC issues notice to concerned parties over Shinde's petition, next hearing on 11 July

New Delhi: After hearing the petition of rebel leader Eknath Shinde amid the political crisis of Maharashtra, the Supreme Court listed the matter for next hearing on 11 July. The Court issued notices to all concerned parties and sought their replies within five days. 

However, the rebel MLAs have been asked to file their affidavit/ replies within three days. 

The apex court has issued notices to Deputy Speaker, Secretary of Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly, Central and state government and others on pleas filed by rebel MLAs against the disqualification notice issued by the Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal against them.

The Court also issued notice to Shiv Sena leaders Ajay Chaudhary, who has been appointed leader of the Legislature Party and Chief Whip in the Assembly Sunil Prabhu and asked them to file a reply within five days. 

The Supreme Court has ordered the status quo to remain till July 11, the date of the next hearing. The Court also stayed all kinds of action regarding this matter including the disqualification of rebel MLAs.

The Top Court directed the Maharashtra government to provide security to all 39 rebel MLAs and their families.
