MAFS’ Alessandra Rampolla Drags Aussie Men For Having ‘No Game’ When It Comes To Dating

Despite living in the age of dating apps, folks are struggling to find their forever person, especially in Australia — and if you wanna be more specific, Sydney. It’s even got to a point where Married At First Sight‘s sexologist and expert Alessandra Rampolla has put Aussie men on the gronk when it comes to dating.

If you’re a single pringle living on the beautiful land of so-called Australia, you might’ve noticed that the dating situation ain’t that great.

As someone who’s learning how to date after being locked down in a cooked relationship for almost 10 years, I’ve noticed that Aussie men are quite… lazy, low effort, and highkey, boring.

And it’s not just me (I promise, it’s not a me problem). Women on TikTok who are stuck in the purgatory that is Australia’s dating scene are creating rant videos and skits recapping their abysmal dates, and it’s all the same vibe.

In her 2024 Vice Australia article, Jewel Nichols also expressed her distaste for the “laziness that permeates dating culture” Down Under.

“Australian men also suck at love-bombing. At least in Europe when men love-bomb, you get a trip to Italy out of it,” Nichols wrote.

“Here, they buy you the ugliest flowers you’ve ever seen and eventually give you chlamydia.”

And if you’ve decided to ditch the dating apps and are looking to alternative options — like reality TV — good fucccccking luck, doll.

Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, iconic resident sexologist of MAFS, Alessandra, aired out her grievances about dating in Australia, especially in Sydney.

“They’re very lax,” she began.

“And the rest of the planet has men who will go and woo you if they like you. They will pursue you and be very direct and clear about their intent to date or to get to know you or the fact that they really like you, to put in the work. I don’t see a lot of Australian men really putting in the work.”

Alessandra added that Australian men are lacking in the “seduction portion” of dating, adding, “It’s a shame because it gives clarity to the situation”.

“It’s interesting with a country like Australia that is very conservative, in my opinion, from what I’ve been able to observe, quite conservative in the traditions of dating and the structures of family and whatnot, you would expect those roles to be a little more clearly defined. But to me, I define it more as laziness than anything else,” Alessandra adds.

“They’re a little lazy. Up their game. They have no game.”

As more and more people open up about their experiences of dating in Australia, especially with the “laziness” stereotype that’s been brought upon Aussie men, it’ll be interesting to see if it will change in the near future.

And honestly… I fucking hope so. Because from IRL experiences to what’s on MAFS, it ain’t looking too great.
