M6 drink driving suspect named after car flips over in crash with lorry

A man charged with drink driving has been named following a crash that flipped a car on the M6.

The motorway was brought to a halt near Lymm on Wednesday (July 27) afternoon after a collision involving a red dropside lorry, a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Mercedes AMG between junctions 20 and 21. As a result of the crash, the Nissan overturned.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed in both directions. At one point, queues stretched for four miles and routes around Warrington became heavily congested.

Cheshire Police and National Highways attended. North West Ambulance Service also sent three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a Hazardous Area Response Team and an air ambulance.

The ambulance service confirmed that four patients were taken to hospital, including a passenger in the overturned Nissan - a woman who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Cheshire Police told the ECHO that the driver of the Mercedes - Inderjit Sagar, 47, from Chorley - was arrested and subsequently charged with drink driving.

He has been bailed to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on August 15.

On Wednesday, A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Officers were called just before 2pm on Wednesday, July 27, to the M6 between junction 20 to junction 21 following reports of a collision involving a red dropside lorry, a black Nissan Qashqai, white Mercedes AMG.
